About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes the challenges we face in life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, isolated or stuck. This can be a difficult place to be and seeking support through counselling can be the first step in making sense of our difficulties and finding a way of moving forward.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, offering walk and talk & remote therapy. My background is working in both private practice and within the NHS. I offer a warm, non-judgmental place where you can talk through whatever is troubling you, at a pace that works for you, offering both open ended and time limited sessions.
As an integrative counsellor, I combine humanistic and psychodynamic perspectives to tailor therapy to your individual benefit. I work from a relational approach, understanding that often the emotional difficulties we face have their origins in our earliest experience of relationships and continue to be problematic throughout life, behind difficulties including poor self-esteem, anxiety and depression. Through my commitment to working with compassion, acceptance and trust, I aim to offer a therapeutic relationship with you that can offer insight and awareness, allowing you the opportunity to identify and make changes to patterns learned in the past, leading to a fulfilling future and greater choice and wellbeing.
The reasons for seeking counselling are as individual as you. It may be that your wellbeing is affected by anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, loss or childhood traumas that are hard to move on from. Life can be really hard sometimes and talking to friends and family isn't always an option, while struggling alone seems unbearable. Whatever your difficulty I am here to listen and offer a safe and welcoming space for you to openly share what you are experiencing.
Practice description
My current availability is for online sessions or walk and talk therapy.
My first session
I never underestimate the real value of the rapport in the therapeutic relationship and know that therapy works best for you when you feel safe, respected and understood. With this in mind, our initial session is a chance for us to get to know each other and make sure I am the right fit for you. The first session will include questions I have to help me get to know you, and may offer a space for questions you might have, or perhaps this is the first time you have talked about what has been happening for you and you would like to see how that feels.
At the end of our first session, I will make time for us to see how it has been for you to talk with me, and whether you would like to continue with ongoing sessions together. We may agree a goal together, or plan whether this will be time limited or open ended sessions before continuing to meet.
